Regular Cleaning

Sweep or Vacuum

Sweep or vacuum your SPC or click flooring regularly to remove dirt, dust and debris that may scratch the surface when walked on.

• Use Soft Attachments: Choose a vacuum with a soft brush head or use a broom with soft bristles to help protect the surface.
• Pay Attention to Edges: Dust and debris can gather around room edges and corners, so make sure these areas are cleaned regularly too.
• Follow the Grain: Where possible, sweep or vacuum in the direction of the flooring finish to help lift dirt from textured surfaces.

Spills & Moisture

Although SPC and click flooring are designed to cope well with everyday moisture, spills should still be cleaned up promptly.

Wipe Up Spills

Use a soft, damp cloth to blot spills as soon as possible and avoid allowing standing water to remain on the floor.

Mopping & Floor Cleaners

Mop your floor when required using a lightly damp mop and a gentle, non-abrasive cleaner suitable for SPC, vinyl or composite flooring.

Choose Cleaning Products Carefully

• Use Suitable Cleaners: Choose a pH-neutral or specialist cleaner recommended for your flooring type.
• Avoid Soap-Based Products: Soap-based cleaners can leave residue that may make the flooring look dull or cloudy.
• Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use wax, polish or abrasive chemical cleaners that may affect the finish.

Furniture & Scratch Protection

Heavy furniture and everyday movement can cause scratches or dents if the floor is not protected.

• Use Furniture Pads: Place felt or suitable soft protectors beneath chairs, tables, sofas and other furniture.
• Lift, Don’t Drag: Lift heavy furniture and objects when moving them rather than dragging them across the floor.
• Avoid Sharp Objects: Take care not to drop sharp or heavy items that may dent or scratch the surface.

Doormats & Rugs

Doormats and rugs help reduce the amount of dirt, moisture and grit brought onto your flooring.

• Use Entrance Mats: Place mats at entrances to trap grit and debris before it reaches the floor.
• Protect Busy Areas: Rugs can provide extra protection in high-traffic areas or locations where moisture may be more common.

Heat & Sunlight

Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight or extreme heat may affect the appearance of some flooring over time.

Reduce Prolonged Exposure

Consider using blinds, curtains or suitable rugs in areas exposed to strong direct sunlight for long periods.

Protecting Floors During Building Work

If decorating, renovating or carrying out building work, protect your flooring from dust, paint and debris.

Use a suitable protective covering or drop cloth and take care not to trap abrasive particles beneath it.

Everyday Protection

• Clean Regularly: Prevent dirt and grit becoming trapped on the surface.
• Deal With Spills Promptly: Do not leave standing moisture on the floor.
• Protect Furniture Contact Points: Use soft furniture pads beneath heavy items.
• Take Care With Footwear: Narrow high heels may create concentrated pressure points on the flooring.
• Follow Manufacturer Guidance: Always check the care instructions supplied with your specific flooring range.
