For a runner carpet installation, we recommend adding 6 inches (15cm) to the width of your carpet and using this measurement to determine the tip-to-tip length of the stair rod. Our standard runner bracket clearance is 10mm, but please note that it is not recommended for deep pile carpets.

For fully fitted carpets, measure the width of the stair and leave a 1 to 2 inch (2.5 to 5cm) gap between the stringboard and the tip of the rod on both sides of the staircase.

To securely fit the rods to your stairs, both runner and fully fitted brackets come with number 6 screws. Before fixing the brackets, drill a pilot hole. For softwood, use a 2.5mm pilot hole, and for hardwood, use a 3mm hole. Create a clearance hole of 4mm to accommodate the screw shank. Make sure to set your power drill on a low torque setting to prevent breaking the screws. In the case of fully fitted carpets, the supplied bracket sits on top of the rod and attaches through the carpet with screws.

For easy care and maintenance, use a damp cloth to clean the rods. If you use household cleaners to clean the wood and paintwork of the staircase, apply them to the cloth and not directly onto the stair surface to avoid speckled tarnishing on the rods. Should any liquids accidentally spill on the stair rods, promptly clean them with a damp cloth and dry with a clean cloth. Keep your Royale stair rods looking exquisite for years to come.
